Are you feeling overwhelmed by college essays?

I offer helpful College Essay Workshops every Sunday at the Lafayette Library to help you personalize your writing; by signing up now you'll receive a 10% discount (the discount code is cew4u).  See below for more information.

If you like to work independently, follow these seven, easy-to-follow daily instructions which include a 10-minute task and a 20-minute writing block.

Day 1: review the eight UC prompts on this UC essay guide and choose four.

Suggestion: start with a short "hook" (about 50 words), then add background (about 150 words), and end with reflection (about150 words).

Write for 20 min.

Day 2: create your account here.

Use a professional-looking email and a simple password.

Write for 20 min.

Day 3: check out campuses and majors here.

There are many new, non-traditional majors - take a hard look, and then decide on your top choices.

Apply to several campuses to increase your odds.

Write for 20 min.

Day 4: list your academic history carefully, and calculate your UC GPA here.

Only send official transcripts to the school you will attend.  Read more.

Write for 20 min.

Day 5: list your test scores.

Remember, December is the last SAT test date that the UC's accept.

See which campuses recommend submitting SAT Subject Tests here.

After you've been accepted, send official scores to only one campus - all campuses you apply to will receive them.

Write for 20 min.

Day 6:categorize (see below) and describe your activities.

For examples, see here
